Deputy Headteacher: Pitcheroak School (SEN: Cognition and learning)

Position: Deputy Head Teacher (Safeguarding)

Salary: L17-L21

Pitcheroak School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Head Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Teacher in the overall management of the school and will have specific responsibilities in key areas including safeguarding, training, compliance, MIS systems, website management, SEND, and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguarding:
    • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the school.
    • Implement and monitor safeguarding policies and procedures.
    • Provide training and support to staff on safeguarding issues.
    • Work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to support students
  • Single Central Record:
  • Maintain the Single Central Record (SCR) with accuracy and diligence.  Ensure compliance with all safeguarding requirements and regularly audit the SCR
  • Training:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for all staff.
    • Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities.
    • Ensure that all staff are up to date with the latest educational practices and regulations.
  • Compliance:
    • Oversee and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain high standards.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to compliance.
  • MIS Systems:
    • Manage and maintain the school’s Management Information Systems (MIS).
    • Ensure the accuracy and security of data within the MIS.
    • Provide training and support to staff on the effective use of MIS systems.
  • Website:
    • Oversee the content and functionality of the school’s website.
    • Ensure that the website is up-to-date, accessible, and compliant with relevant regulations.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to enhance the website’s usability and information.
  • Policies:
    • Develop, review, and update school policies in line with statutory requirements.
    • Ensure that all policies are effectively communicated and implemented across the school.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of policies and procedures, making improvements where necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Education or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing compliance, safeguarding, and SEND provision.
  • Strong knowledge of MIS systems and website management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
