Pupil Premium Grant

Pupil Premium

Our Pupil Premium strategy is reviewed every September on an annual basis.

We have been allocated £63,090 for PPG funding for the academic year 2023-2024.

PPG is a sum of money that the school receives for every pupil who is either in receipt of Free School Meals (FSM) or who has been in receipt of them in the past. Pupils have to be 16 or under or deemed ‘looked after’.

Nationally, the statistics show that pupils who are in receipt of FSM do less well than their peers in external exams. The aim of this money is to try to close that attainment gap.

Pitcheroak has a number of pupils who are in receipt of FSM. The school focuses on maximising achievement for all pupils and views each child as a unique individual entitled to the same quality of educational experience, in and beyond the classroom.

The main barriers to educational achievement that our pupils face can relate to one or more of the following areas:

  • Cognition and learning difficulties
  • Communication difficulties
  • Independent skills
  • Engagement of learners
  • Hard to reach families
  • Mental Health
  • Sensory impairment – complex needs

To address these barriers we have identified several approaches that we use. Please refer to the strategy document below for more details.
